The Action for Adaptation Biodiversity Atlas and Policy Toolkit [beta version] is now available.  Action for Adaptation is a partnership between UBC Botanical Garden and the CDFCP. This project stemmed from conversations with First Nations and local government planners, mappers, community groups, consultants and researchers who identified the need for updated, high resolution mapping for local planning and highlighted gaps in knowledge about policy tools in order to plan for climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.

The biodiversity atlas is a peer-reviewed online platform developed by researchers and mapping experts. This high resolution map of southwest BC include the following layers:

• Land Cover (LiDAR & satellite; 3m)
• Disturbance (update coming June 30, 2026)
• Forest Carbon (LiDAR & satellite; 15m)
• Forest Cover (update coming June 30, 2026)
• Sensitive Ecosystems (new high resolution old and big-tree forest; riparian)
• Potential Ecosystems at Risk
• Climate Microrefugia
• Ecosystems at Risk
• Species at Risk

The biodiversity atlas is paired with a policy toolkit which aims to provide local governments and First Nation planners with policy information to incorporate nature-based solutions.
